This article is about NDP 2007 Funpack which emphasises design and creativity. Bold, trendy, innovative - these are words used by the organising committee to describe this year's National Day Parade Funpack. And it has even got its own name - the Assembly Bag. For the first time, a professional designer was commissioned to create the bag. 33-year-old Hanson Ho took two weeks to come up with the Assembly Bag concept, which he hopes to commercialise soon. Like the NDP theme - "Celebrate Singapore: City of Possibilities" - his creation is filled with possibilities. This year's NDP funpack is also modular in design. It comprises strips of fabric panels which can be detached and reassembled. Spectators can create their own design and customise the bags into different sizes by trading panels among themselves. Each bag also comes with a white panel strip, where Singaporeans can express their creativity, and submit it for a design competition. I think the bag is really really cute and unique. As compared to previous years' bag, you can customize this one. It looks very trendy as told and we can possibly bring it anywhere we go if we want to. I hope they will make FunPack bags like this in the future. I wish I can have one now!

This article is about getting instant answers from Wikipedia on your mobile phone. In Japan, those looking for instant answers now need look no further than their mobile phones. A subsidiary of Japanese communications giant NTT on Tuesday launched the Japanese-language service of the wildly popular free online encyclopedia for mobile phones. The page is quickly saved, meaning it can be accessed even without a connection, such as on a train. The service is not restricted to only customers of NTT's mobile telephone operator NTT DoCoMo. In a recent survey, more than half of Japanese who use search engines on their mobile telephones said they wanted reference materials of the type of Wikipedia. I think this is a good way to get instant answers. Wikipedia has helped me alot too. I've done research on it as it is a good engine to research on for very detailed information. Wikipedia has always been my favourite and will always be.

This article is about 13-year-old schoolgirl who is the new US Texting Champion. The hundreds of mostly teenagers who took part in the US championships in New York Saturday could think of little but the 25,000-dollar prize money. Contestants had to stand with their hands behind their backs until a bell sounded and a message appeared on an overhead screen. The winner was judged on whoever's message -- checked for exact punctuation -- reached the judges first. The text tests ranged from "faster than a speeding bullet..." and "what we do in life echoes in eternity" to the less poetic "OMG, nd 2 talk asap," which for those over 30 means "Oh my God, need to talk as soon as possible." Tirosh, who said she practised with her friend and trainer Amy, who threw out random words or symbols and even motivational Buddhist quotes, admitted to feeling a certain pressure due to the home side advantage. She said she owed her success to relaxation and deep breathing. I think competitions like this are very exciting. Although i can't type WITHOUT punctuations, I do type I think equally fast like an average human can. It would be great to see her challange Singapore's winner and see who is the faster one.

This article is about Creative revolution in a box with Adobe CS3.Now, the denizens of creative departments worldwide are breaking out their stash of champagne (or whatever is fashionably drinkable) to celebrate the union which has led to Adobe's Creative Suite 3 (CS3). It is the largest software release in Adobe's 25-year history and promises to revolutionise creative workflows. In a nutshell, what each of the boxes contain are tools that will allow designers to start off creating for one media and from there, take it to a range of other plaforms, from web to print, film and mobile. The roll out of the CS3 range will be in stages, starting with the Design and Web bundles coming out first in April, and the entire range unveiled by June 2007. Adobe CS3 is a must for me and some other friends as we adore photo editing and with Adobe CS3 I agree that photo editing couldn't be easier and it's even better than previous Adobe Photoshop's. I think even a newbie will get the hang of it and stay addicted soon after. It's really entertaining.

This article is about Spears recruiting fans to name new album. Pop princess Britney Spears is calling on die-hard fans to help her name her new album, letting them vote on possible titles including one needling fellow troubled young celebrity Lindsay Lohan. Members of the 25-year-old singer's official fan club are invited to pick on her official website one of five proposed titles for her first studio album in three years. The title, "Omg is Like Lindsay Lohan Like Okay Like," plays on the overuse of the word "like" in everyday conversations among young Americans and one of their favorite cellphone text messaging shorthands, omg, for "oh my God." The four other suggested titles are "What if the Joke is on You," "Down boy," "Integrity" and "Dignity." She was photographed partying hard in Los Angeles and Las Vegas -- often pantyless -- and bizarrely shaved her head shortly before entering a rehabilitation clinic. I feel that Spears could just take a break from all this "limelight" she's been getting. I think her comeback would be horrible and even worse now.

This article is about Rosalyn Lee joining MediaCorp Radio's 987FM.Opinionated and eager, Lee will definitely feel right at home in her new role. In an exclusive interview with TODAY, the 27-year-old radio DJ revealed that she is to join MediaCorp Radio’s youth-oriented station, 987FM, by the middle of next month. Lee will make the move after a two-year stint with Power98FM. Besides Lee, the station currently has two full time female DJs. R&B singer Vanessa Fernandez co-hosts The TV Show on weekend mornings, while Desiree is on for the 10am to 1pm slot on weekdays. “The new 987 FM will be fresh, more real and more in tune with what the listener wants,” Z said, adding that Lee has established a following among listeners between 15 and 30 years old. These people, she said, fall into the 987 FM’s demographics. Lee’s opinions made her a favourite among listeners at her previous station. When she first started, Lee said she received so much hate mail that she set up her own segment called I Love Hate Mail. Lee started out as a choreographer and dancer at the SAF’s Music and Drama Company. Following brief stints as a casting director at Channel 5 and a bartop dancer at Zouk, she eventually ended up talking to herself — as a radio DJ.
I absolutely love Rozz. She's an idol to me, she has always been. Xiaxue is also an idol for me. Rozz is because she DJ's and despite getting many Hate Mails, she continues Dj-ing. Xiaxue on the other hand is a blogger and also gets critizism always. My ambition is to be a Dj one day and I hope I can follow and aspire to be like Rosalyn.

This article is about Australian police have arresting a foreign-born doctor in connection with a series of failed car bombings in Britain, 16,500 kilometres (10,300 miles) away, authorities said Tuesday. The 27-year-old man, whose nationality has not been revealed, was picked up at the international airport in the eastern city of Brisbane as he tried to leave the country on a one-way ticket late Monday. The suspect is one of eight people - including five doctors or other medical staff in their late 20s - whose arrests were announced Monday by British police following three failed car bombings in London and Glasgow last Friday and Saturday. It was not known what the man's possible role in the British attacks could have been but early indications are that his basic profile matches those of the suspects being held in Britain. British police had said a Jordanian doctor and an Iraqi doctor were among those being held after the failed car bomb attacks last weekend. But authorities were keen to stress that despite the arrest of someone suspected of involvement in terrorist activity, the terror threat against Australia had not been heightened. I think that terrorism should seriously stop and people should learn how to make word peace.

This article is about showing how terrorism has surpassed national boundaries, and Singapore must learn from the events and move to improve vigilance, according to Coordinating Minister for National Security and Deputy Prime Minister S Jayakumar. Singapore police and security agencies are already in touch with their counterparts in Glasgow and London to learn and share experiences. Singapore is well aware of this and has been vigilant. Security is beefed up during high profile events, like the National Day Parade. But high profile events aside, Singapore will still be prepared. Professor Jayakumar also said the Civil Defence and the Home Team's approach in involving the community during emergency preparedness exercises is a move in the right direction.
I think Singaporeans should also play their part in the community incase there's a terrorist attack and I'm glad that Deputy Prime Minister S Jayakumar has the statements during a tour of the Civil Defence Academy on Tuesday so that Singaporeans will be more alermed.

This article is about Kym Ng getting her first feature film — and her first on screen kiss. At Thursday afternoon's press conference for the new movie Gone Shopping, she was asked to describe co-star Adrian Pang's kissing prowess. Gone Shopping, which Wee describes as a "satirical drama", centres on three disenfranchised characters who look for comfort in malls. Ng plays Clara, a 40-year-old tai-tai who rekindles a romance with Valentine, Pang's character who works at Tang's. The movie, produced by Kismet Films and distributed by Golden Village Pictures, is the first full-length feature film for Ng, who said she does not have the makings of a tai-tai. "The spirit is there … but not the money," she said. The movie is trilingual, with scenes in English, Mandarin and Tamil. It was shot at Tang's, Marina Square and Mustafa Centre. Certain scenes were also shot at Far East Plaza, Paragon and Suntec City.
I think it is good to have more local movies made as Singaporeans can see what out local talent can do, cos most movies come from the US and maybe some from India, HongKong. I think movies like INotstupid is another good example of a good movie which many Singaporeans appreciate. I'm looking forward to watch it -
(COS OUR CLASSMATE-SUZZIE is in some part + MR MAGESH + SHAHALIF).
the more reason why i will watch :D

This article is about, schoolboy wizard Harry Potter returning to cast his spell Thursday in a red-carpet premiere in Tokyo of his latest movie. Japanese fans lucky enough to win a ticket for the show will be the first general viewers anywhere in the world to see "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," although Warner Brothers Entertainment says the gala world premiere will be in London on July 3. Potter, and who at the age of 17 is not quite the same baby-faced actor he was when he last visited five years ago. The huge 150 million-dollar production follows Harry and his classmates Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger at the Hogwarts school as they face the evil Lord Voldemort, who has returned from the darkness. Katie Leung, who plays his schoolmate Cho Chang, said Radcliffe was a wizard when it comes to kissing.Director David Yates, who has built a career with television dramas, was tapped for the first time to shoot a film on Harry. He said he was challenged to depict the boy wizard who in the book is meant to be 15 and struggling with his inner self and ego. Radcliffe himself will turn 18 next month. The film will hit cinemas around the world starting on July 11. It will go on general release in Japan on July 20.
As a big fan of Potter, I really hope this movie will really be worth it. Although the tickets will obviously be sold out, I won't hesitate to watch it cos Harry Potter is always a 'Must Watch', everywhere.

This article is about MySpace setting to knock YouTube from its throne by launching a website devoted to Internet video and television shows. "This works just as well for NBC and Fox and for the aspiring Steven Speilberg as it does for the kid doing skateboard tricks on the weekend," MySpace vice president Jeff Berman told AFP. The site's creators hope to replicate the success of MySpace, which gets more visitors than any other website in the United States and is the most popular online social community in with world, according to industry statistics. The teen-oriented website is a forum in which people share pictures, journal entries, videos, music and more on personalized profile pages. As a user of Myspace myself, it is indeed interesting to put videos up so others can see that we might share the same interest as them. Myspace is like Friendster but more Asian's use Friendster.

This article is about the realese of the new Apple iPhone in the US. Despite its flaws, the phone is selling fast. While exact sales figures have yet to be released, some Apple and AT&T stores throughout the nation ran out of iPhone models within 48 hours of the devices' debut late Friday. Many described the touch-screen controls and icons as beautiful and easy to navigate. Videos from Google-owned YouTube look better to Carson on her iPhone than on her home computer, but she notes not all videos from the popular website are accessible by iPhone. Apple iPhones don't handle some applications commonly used to stream online video, according to Carson. The iPhone merges mobile telephone, Internet browsing, e-mail, and music and video replay (like Apple's market-dominating iPod) into one device. I think this is a really good phone as it is very convienient for everyone to use and it's easy to navigate, as told. It will only be released in Asia in 2008 and I'm gonna save up to get it. It's a phone I think, worth the wait.

This article is about bars and pubs having new rules on smoking. The NEA have to issue any fines as most smokers seemed to be aware of the new restrictions. Smokers at bars and clubs can light up only in designated smoking rooms and corners, or they could be fined a maximum of $1,000 or face up to six months' jail or both. Despite the inconvinience, smokers are not quitting. At St James Power Station, about 70 per cent of the patrons are smokers. Choo Yew Kin, NEA's Environmental Health Executive, said officers would conduct checks on the bars and clubs every night. I think this is a good measure as non-smokers won't feel unconfortable when doing into pubs/clubs as they need not passive smoke from someone who smokes or even pick up the habit. This is also a good measure as it can/possibly reduce the number or smokers, smoking in Singapore.
This article is about merchants who accept payment by NETS have agreed to continue doing so, despite incurring higher costs as of 1 July. Shops with NETS cannot have other debit or credit payment facilities. A shop owner thinks that the higher NETS levy is likely to wear down profits. Other retailers do not want to go without credit payment facilities, even though NETS transactions account for 60 per cent of monthly sales. A shop assistant thinks that they need both as Credit cards offer promotions and allow customers to pay by instalment. Some people don't carry NETS cards with them and besides, credit cards are widely accepted. An average, about 70 per cent of the customers at IKEA pay by NETS and Credit Cards because it is more convenient. But some customers say they would not be happy if retailers insist on using NETS only. I think if I would consider NETS still as it is more convinient than holding a Credits Card.
This article is about LG (Life's Good) mobile has signed an agrement with YouTube, the world's biggest video-sharing website, to develop a mobile phone which can operate the service. It wants to develop a mobile phone which can operate the service. The proposed model will enable users to upload, view and share video clips or user-created content (UCC) online freely without using computers. It is also stepping up partnership with Google which ownes YouTube. It began selling third-generation (3G) handsets called "Google phones" with software installed for directly using the Google service, in Europe last month. It began selling third-generation (3G) handsets called "Google phones" with software installed for directly using the Google service, in Europe last month. The phone offers one-click access to Google's search engine as well as Google maps and Gmail.
I think it is very interesting to build this kind of phones as people get bored easily nowdays with just Music/Radio in their phones, imagine viewing a video. It would be great and you need not store anything in your phone as storing a video itself into a phone can take up many memory space in the Memory Card. Being a person who enjoys watching videos on YouTube. It will indeed be a great phone for many in the future.

This article is about Singapore reaching the Dengue "Epidemic" level for the 2nd time. The Ministry of Health said 381 cases were reported between June 24 and 30, above the "epidemic threshold" of 378 cases per week. Singapore faced the worst Dengue fever breakout in 2005 when 19 people died from the disease and more than 13,000 were infected. Singapore has also done it part in remind and educate people about dengue. It has also stepped up efforts to eradicate mosquito breeding grounds in the island-state, as Singapore is one of the world's cleanest cities. Dengue cases will also increase in such a hot weather right now, especially in the onth of July and August. I hope Singaporens will be more considerate and will go out of the "Epidemic" level.

This article is about a lady who is thrown to her death from the 13th floor. Police are looking for the crime suspect who is her husband. Many from the bustop heard arguements between the couple, a loud scream and a loud thud later. The fight might be about their family matters as it was said that Mdm Smaelmeeral's had married to Mr Jaffar against her family's wishes. Mdm Smaelmeeral changed her phone number to avoid her husband. I don't think she should do this and should actually talk it out. I think if this didn't happen, she wouldn't have to leave in such a tragic way.
A dead DJ, his weeping wife and her young lover

MURDERED disc jockey Manap Sarlip was, by most accounts, a responsible husband who made sure his wife had a home that was always clean and tidy.
.
Neighbours at his block in Whampoa Drive were thus stunned to learn yesterday that his wife, Madam Aniza Essa, together with a 16-year-old male, had been arrested following his murder on Sunday.
.
Mdm Aniza, 24, and the teenager, who worked in the same pub and were believed to be lovers, will be charged in court today for murder with common intention. The couple face the death penalty if convicted.
.
A sobbing Mdm Aniza was led away by police for questioning on Sunday but was later placed under arrest at the Police Cantonment Complex, while the teen was arrested at a flat in Rivervale Drive.
.
At about 9am yesterday, he led detectives to a canal beside the block, where a knife, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered from the water.
.
Mr Manap's death — he was found stabbed in the chest at the gate of his three-room flat — came as a shock for those who knew the couple.
.
According to neighbours, the two kept to themselves, especially since Mr Manap's release from prison last year. He was sentenced to 21 months' jail for forging documents and being absent without leave as a Civil Defence storeman.
.
At the time of his death, Mr Manap, 29, was working at a Selegie pub called Beauty & Beast Club @ Amaran and earning $1,800 a month. His colleagues told Today last night they had thrown a surprise birthday party for him on Saturday night, hours before he was murdered.
.
"He was very surprised and happy. He told us that was is the first time someone had celebrated his birthday," said Mr Manap's supervisor at the club.
.
The supervisor, who did not want to be named, said Mr Manap was a "humble, hardworking and nice guy". "The way he passed away, we cannot take it," the supervisor said.
.
According to housewife Hazel June Casia, who chatted occasionally with the couple, Mr Manap seldom went out and could often be seen cleaning the house.
.
"He never ate outside, always what his wife cooked," said Mdm Casia, 38.
.
One neighbour, a Mr Teo, said Mr Manap had not been able to afford to send his five-year-old son to kindergarten. Others described Mdm Aniza as a "sexily dressed" woman with dyed-blond hair.
.
Relatives did not have a clue to the couple's relationship, either. The two did not confide in family members and stayed away unless they needed money, said Mdm Aniza's mother, Mdm Johara Haron. She last saw her daughter and Mr Manap during Hari Raya last year.
.
"They appeared happy. We didn't know if there were problems between them," said Mdm Johara, 60.
.
According to Mdm Aniza's brother Azmi, his sister visited Mr Manap's mother's flat on Sunday night with her two sons, but was later taken away by detectives. "I asked her if they had financial problems or if there was a third party. She said no, but hugged me before leaving," said Mr Azmi.
.
Mr Manap's murder was one of two on Sunday morning. In the other incident, 32-year-old Smaelmeeral Abdul Aziz was found dead at the foot of a block of flats in Stirling Road with facial injuries and multiple fractures.

.
Mr Manap's murder was one of two on Sunday morning. In the other incident, 32-year-old Smaelmeeral Abdul Aziz was found dead at the foot of a block of flats in Stirling Road with facial injuries and multiple fractures.
This article is about the deaf of a young man. He was killed by his own wife and another guy who is only sixteen. They were said to have an affair with each other. It was said by many that Mr Manap was a humble, hardworking and nice man, yet many did now know why he had to leave due to an inapropriate act of his wife and the teenager. He was also a loyal husband as told by neighbours and friends.I pity Mr Mahad who was such an innocent man. It is also wrong for his wife to have an affair with a guy who is even younger than she is.

I think it is good that the Malay Community is starting a centre to help pregnant teenagers. I've heard of stories of teenagers getting pregnant time and again, and it is good to finally hear that a centre could help them. I agree that we can't possibly let counsellors do all the work.
Now teenagers can seek help from this centre as they might feel more comfortable there rather than go the counsellors for counselling. I think parents should give their children their support because if they don't, they child will become more rebellious and as told in the artible, they might do something worse.
I think it's good that the government gives full support of these efforts. People would then look up more to the government.
I do hope they will build more Centre's like this so it can help many teenagers in need.
I think Mr Lim is a really inconsiderate driver. It's a shame how Singaporeans drink and drive despite the many warnings. People like Mr Lim are risking their own lives and others and I doubt he even knows it. I'm realived that Mr Lim is jailed and disqualified from driving for 20 years. He will learn a valuable lesson by then. I don't even understand how he can actually drive against the flow. I think he was really drunk. But it's a pity that Mr Lim suffered and is unable to run, walk for long distances and squat. I guess those are the consequences he has to face for drink driving.
As for MR Wong, he is also as inconsiderate driver.
I think the government should look up to this matter as problems would arise if there are more cases of drink driving. Maybe they should check people who are coming out of the bar's, their alchohol content or something. That way, the police can stop those people who are drunk. I just hope people will be more considerate and there will be fewer cases of drink driving in the future.
